Animation of Cynthia Hollinsworth’s story by Falmouth students.
Cynthia’s Story
This animation portrays the remarkable story of survival of Blanka and her sister Klara during the Holocaust and the horrific nightmare of the Nazi concentration camps, including Auschwitz II (Birkenau).
“Cynthia’s Story” will be the foundation for a new education pack aimed at teaching secondary school students throughout Cornwall not only the historical facts about the Holocaust, but also the lessons that can be learned about compassion and resilience.
The animation will be launched by Cornwall Faith Forum in June 2022 as part of the Holocaust education pack for Cornwall schools.
Copyright of this animation rests with the Falmouth University BA Animation students who have given their express permission for the animation to be shared with Kehillat Kernow members. Please therefore do not post the animation on social media.
“Cynthia’s Story” has been created by BA Animation students at Falmouth University, Somto Onyishi, Thea Fallmyr Handeland, Hayleigh Wallis and Georgina Grocutt, guided by their tutor Katharine Nicholls, Senior Lecturer on BA(Hons) Animation and VFX, working with Rita Stephen, Inter Faith Development – Cornwall Faith Forum and Kehillat Kernow Member Cynthia Hollinsworth. The film is based on the written testimony of Cynthia’s mother Blanka Engelberg.
This animation has been made possible through the collaboration of Cornwall Faith Forum, Kehillat Kernow, Falmouth University and SACRE. Further animations are planned for the future as part of the on-going Holocaust education project.
