It has been a long time coming – nearly 12 years – since the first WordPress version of Kehillat Kernow was launched and over twenty years since the first flat version appeared online. Since the previous version, I’ve become a lot more experienced with what is possible using this platform.
In order to get the best experience as a member, please sign in because things will change once you’re in. You’ll have access to much more content; the navigation will change slightly to provide you with events, photo albums, and more.

What’s new?
- The upcoming events are clear on the home page and within a new events section that can instantly filter by services and festivals. The start times, selective end times and the event locations are all there.
- I’ve created a new photo gallery that picks up photos from the existing photo gallery and presents it as a clear and clean gallery within WordPress. As a member, you’ll have direct access to the top menu as new albums are published. Inside each album, click on a photo and navigate between photos using the keyboard.
- All the print copies of the newsletter, Kol Kehillat Kernow, are available online, with original versions as PDFs available to members.
- The book library is back with search and is grouped by category.
- The shop is a real online shop with a basket and checkout. New payment options will be added, but for now, it’s just a cheque.

What’s tidied up?
- I’ve gone through all the pages, brought some together; all have been reformatted and laid out with the best quality photos available. It’s all responsive to your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
- I’ve added crisp vector images as logos and some illustrations as the Jewish calendar, the Kehillat Kernow name and scroll mantle’s meaning.
- The festivals are presented with a sticky bookmark menu if viewing on a larger screen size.
- I’ve tidied up many pages and posts, such as the meetings, which are readable online with all devices, including a summary.
- The historic cemeteries are edited in length and conciseness, with date-specific events placed into the News thanks to selection by tags.
- Generally, I’ve curated the content so that’s suitable for either guests and non-members or friends and members.
Thanks
A big thank you to Paul, who was in regular contact with me via Trello throughout the entire process – your input and coordination were greatly appreciated. I’m also especially grateful to Leslie and Jeremy, who made the decision to proceed with a refreshed version of the Kehillat Kernow website and entrusted me with the task of bringing this new iteration to life.
