It doesn't get much better than this, other than it would have been better the subject wasn't there to begin with.

Sketches of Anglo-Jewish History

Book was published a part of a 300 year celebration of the Jews return to England (after their expulsion in the early part of the 13th century). The changing position of Jews, their eventual admittance into mainstream British society (legally at least), and the influence of the German and Portuguese movements (via the synagogues) in Jewish lives. Written from an Orthodox viewpoint, it is still a comprehension survey of Anglo-Jewish history I the past 300 years. Newer movements (reform, liberal) are not given much shrift.

These are the testimonies of 30 people who survived the death camp Sobibor and of the uprising that took place there on Oct. 14, 1943. Written by a woman who had devoted her life to the study of this particular chapter in Jewish history under the Nazis. The specific detail of their account of the atrocities will move you to tears, but the heroism and integrity of the Jews who suffered there will leave you in awe.
